Este libro tiene por objetivo dar a conocer la experiencia de desplazamiento que sufri la poblacin de Chaitn en el ao 2008 y que posteriormente, se asent en las ciudades de Puerto Montt y de la Isla de Chilo. Para ello, es necesario llevar a cabo una breve descripcin de la ciudad previo al desastre, definir algunos conceptos claves y analizar los efectos que tiene para la poblacin tanto a nivel psicolgico como socioeducativo y econmico. En esta misma lnea, se revisa el Plan Nacional de Proteccin Civil del Gobierno Chileno, las medidas gubernamentales para paliar la situacin de emergencia (entrega de beneficios) as como, el proceso de reconstruccin denominado Santa Brbara. Para llevar a cabo esta investigacin cualitativa, se realizaron cinco entrevistas semiestructuradas durante el mes de enero de 2010, durante mi prctica profesional en la Oficina Nacional de Emergencia del Ministerio del Interior
