This book gives a detailed description on developing contextualized, universitylevel introductory Information and Communication Technology (ICT) education in Tanzania during 20002009. It is a revised and updated version of the author's doctoral thesis offering new insights of the topic for the reader. It also introduces the 2007 launched Contextualized Bachelor Degree Programme in ICT at Tumaini University. The book includes a general overview of ICT education, developing country context, contextualization, and digital gap. It also covers the problematics of knowledge and technology transfer, contextual ICT education research, and participatory and situated pedagogy. The case study part of the book includes a detailed description of the development case at Tumaini University. The development process generated an ICT transfer framework model CATI consisting of levels Contextualize, Apply, Transfer and Import. The process also challenged the joint development project, and the students creative outcomes of the teachinglearning experiments. The conclusions and recommendations of the book provide insights into the problematics and opportunities of such developmental work.
