S'agissant de rendre justice a l'exigence philosophique de l'averroisme juif, mais aussi d'en reformer les attendus systematiques, la philosophie de l'amour des Dialogues constitue un moment decisif de l'histoire intellectuelle du judaisme, mais aussi de la pensee moderne, qui, au dela de son succes litteraire immediat, trouvera des echos indiscutables chez Bruno ou chez Spinoza. L'edition proposee donne, en orthographe modernisee, la traduction de Pontus de Tyard, figure majeure de la litterature francaise du XVIe siecle. Elle en seconde la lecture par des notes explicatives qui s'efforcent de restituer la multiplicite des horizons culturels, intellectuels et speculatifs, qui fait la richesse et la profondeur de la philosophie de Leon Hebreu.
