Often referred to as the 'Hermit Painter,' Cincinnatiborn Charles Kaelin was an important figure in the Cape Ann Art Colony, where he worked in pastel and oil at Gloucester, and later at Rockport, from 1900 until his death in 1929. Kaelin's career is surveyed in this catalogue, which consists of fortyone pages of text, including essays by Carol Lowrey and Richard J. Boyle, fourteen color plates and fifteen black and white illustrations.
