Von Interesse ist dabei, wie Platon die Kunst in seinem Staatsentwurf zu verankern gedachte. Er tat dies im Zusammenhang mit der Frage nach der Erziehung: in Buch II und III errtert er, wie diese fr die zuknftigen Krieger der Polis auszusehen hat. Ein wichtiger Teil dieser berlegung ist der Status der Dichtung in dem idealen Staat. Diese Bestimmung soll aufgedeckt werden. Formuliert man eine solche Fragestellung, stt man in der Philosophie Platons schnell auf einen Begriff, indem die Fragen nach dem Verhltnis zur Kunst und der politischen, sowie pdagogischen Dimension dieser subsumiert werden: die Mimesis.3 Dieser problematische und ambivalente Begriff wird mit seinen Assoziationen einen wesentliche Teil der Errtertung der zentralen Fragestellung bestimmen. Als Thema liee sich somit folgende Problemstellung formulieren: Dichtung und Erziehung in Platons Politeia Deutung des Verhltnisses. Fr das Vorgehen kann man nun einen groben Weg skizzieren. An den Anfang der berlegungen soll ein kurzer Abriss der Forschungsgeschichte gestellt werden, um die Diskussionen innerhalb dieser kenntlich zu machen. Dem folgt eine Darstellung der Intentionen Platons in der Politeia. Im Anschluss daran wird die Erziehung der sogenannten Wchter aus Politeia 376c398b errtert, in deren Mittelpunkt die Bestimmung der Dichtung und der Mimesis steht. In einem abschlieenden Kapitel soll eine Zusammenfassung der Erkenntnisse versucht werden, indem Platons Literaturverstndnis in einer Theorie verdichtet wird. Dies folgt dem Ansatz von Stefan
