Einleitung Wissen aneignen, Erkenntnisse gewinnen, Bildung erhalten, Lernen ... das alles sind Themen, die nicht erst in unserer Zeit durch PISA oder andere Studien an Aktualitt gewonnen haben. Der Prozess des Lernens begleitet die Menschheit und jedes einzelne Individuum seit jeher. Bereits in der Antike hat Platon mit seinem Hhlengleichnis (Ebert 1974:195) den Grundstein fr die Erkenntnistheorie gelegt. Im Laufe der Geschichte entwickelten sich immer wieder neue Anstze und Interpretationen zu diesen Themen. So hat beispielsweise Comenius (Filtner 1966:1) mit seinem Grundsatz omnes omnia omnino" im 17. Jahrhundert eine neue, freiere Pdagogik in Deutschland initiiert. Und Humboldt's Bildungsideal (Menze 1975:235) im 19. Jahrhundert favorisierte eine ganzheitliche Ausbildung. Bis dato legte man den Schwerpunkt des Lernens auf die Inhalte, aber seit dem 20. Jahrhundert befassen sich Forscher weltweit explizit mit Lerntheorien, um den Lernprozess zu verstehen und zu erklren. Wir wissen heute, dass Lernen ein Prozess ist, der die Verhaltensweise des Lerners ndert (Sloane 2003:13), jedoch sehen viele den Lerner noch als ein Objekt an, dem Wissen vermittelt werden muss (Kath 2004:1). Sloane (2003:15) betont, dass es Unterschiede in der Qualitt des Lernens gibt, zum einen der dirigistische Unterrichtsstil, der wenig Freirume lsst, zum anderen gibt es aber auch ausreichend Mglichkeiten, den Lerner zu einem selbstndigen und eigenaktiven Lernprozess aufzufordern. De facto ist es aber der Lerner selber, der sich Wissen und Fhigkeiten aneignen muss (Kath 2004:1) und folglich bedarf er Methoden, die ihm dieses ermglichen. Aus diesem Grund verlangt Kath (2004:10), dass der Unterricht von heute den Lerner dazu befhigen muss, sich selbstndig und aktiv das beizubringen, was er und die Gesellschaft fordern. Dazu
