Dabei soll zunchst in Kapitel 2 der Versuch unternommen werden, die wichtigsten Entwicklungen in der BRD bis 1966 darzulegen, angefangen von der Krise an den deutschen Hochschulen, der Groen Koalition und der auerparlamentarischen Opposition, der Notstandsgesetzgebung, der SpiegelAffre" und der Protestkampagne gegen den SpringerKonzern. Da die Entwicklungen unmittelbar aufeinander aufbauten bzw. einander bedingten, lieen sich thematische berschneidungen in den einzelnen Kapiteln nicht immer vermeiden. Um den politischhistorischen Grundlagen und Ereignissen der 68er Bewegung gerecht werden zu knnen, ist es unverzichtbar, die Geschehnisse und Ablufe in der BRD in einen globalen Kontext einzuordnen. Im dritten Kapitel soll daher im Rahmen eines kurzen Exkurses kurz auf die Entwicklungen im Ausland eingegangen werden im Einzelnen exemplarisch auf die politischen Unruhen in Frankreich, Tschechien, Italien, Mexiko und den USA sowie den Vietnamkrieg als internationales Verbindungselement der nationalen Protestbewegungen. In Kapitel 4 wird schlielich die Eskalation der 68erBewegung thematisiert. Dazu werden sowohl der Schahbesuch in Berlin am 2. Juni 1967 einschlielich der Erschieung von Benno Ohnesorg als auch der Mordanschlag auf Rudi Dutschke am 11. April 1968 in den Fokus gerckt.
