Gegenstand der Arbeit sind die Reaktionen des mittelalterlichen hamburgischen und hansischen Seerechts auf vertragliche und auervertragliche Rechtsbrche durch die Seeleute. Die Verfasserin untersucht drei ausgewhlte Rechtsquellen jener Zeit, das lteste hamburgische Schiprecht von 1301, den ltesten seerechtlichen Hansereze von 1378 sowie das lteste selbstndige Seerecht der Hanse, die Hansische Schifferordnung von 1482. Den Schwerpunkt bildet eine genaue bersetzung und Exegese dieser mittelniederdeutschen Rechtstexte. Die Normadressaten, die sanktionierten Fehlverhalten, die jeweiligen Rechtsfolgen sowie die Verfahren zur Feststellung des Regelverstoes werden insbesondere vor den Vernderungen der sozialen, wirtschaftlichen und politischen Verhltnisse jenes Zeitraums betrachtet.
