Allerdings lsst sich beobachten, dass ein sehr hoher Prozentsatz von Mergers & Acquisitions in der Vergangenheit als nicht erfolgreich eingestuft wurde. Dadurch entstehen Angst und Unsicherheit bei den Mitarbeitern und eine Widerstandsreaktion gegen die anstehenden Vernderungen wird ausgelst. In dieser Phase eines Zusammenschlusses wird ber den Erfolg oder Misserfolg einer Fusion entschieden. Aus dem Festhalten an Werten und Grundannahmen der eigenen Kultur resultiert, dass Organisationsmitglieder eine neue Kultur nicht akzeptieren, Programme zur Umstrukturierung und Integration nicht umgesetzt werden, Mitarbeiter die Unternehmen verlassen, allgemeine Angst und Ungewissheit ausbricht und Unternehmensziele in den Hintergrund geraten.
