Dies verwundert angesichts der Tatsache, dass das Figureninventar der Lieblingsmrchen der Deutschen vielfach Geschwister umfasst: Bruder und Schwester in Hnsel und Gretel oder die Stiefschwestern in Aschenputtel. Was zeichnet die Geschwisterbeziehung aus, dass sie uns in so vielen Mrchen begegnet? Die vorliegende Arbeit geht es um Art und Darstellung der Geschwisterbeziehungen in ausgewhlten Beispielen der Kinder und Hausmrchen der Brder Grimm und setzt sich deutend mit ihnen auseinander. Dass bei der Interpretation des Mrchens nicht vorgegangen werden kann, wie bei zeitgenssischer Literatur, liegt in Anbetracht seines Alters und seiner Vielschichtigkeit auf der Hand. Die Tatsache, dass das Mrchen ursprnglich durch den Akt des Erzhlens weitergegeben wurde, erschwert die Interpretation der uns nur noch in gedruckter Form vorliegenden Texte. Wo weder Autor noch Entstehungszeit und ort bekannt sind, wird die Objektivitt der Interpretation erschwert. Meine Arbeit ist in drei Teile gegliedert: Zunchst werden die bekanntesten Methoden der Mrchenforschung vorgestellt und auf ihre Anwendbarkeit hin untersucht. Anschlieend werde ich die wichtigsten Erkenntnisse der Geschwisterforschung bis heute darlegen. Der dritte Teil ist der Hauptteil, hier werden die Ergebnisse aus dem Methodenteil unter verschiedenen Fragestellungen konkret auf eine exemplarische Auswahl von vier Mrchen, Aschenputtel, Die zwlf Brder, Hnsel und Gretel sowie Die zwei Brder, angewendet. Dabei werde ich verschiedene Fassungen der KHM vergleichend einbeziehen, wobei ich mich hauptschlich auf die Drucke erster und letzter Hand
