In den letzten Jahren weicht dem Bild des klassisch geistig Behinderten', mehr und mehr ein neuer Typus, der selbstbestimmt seinen Weg gehen mchte und oft nur mit Geduld und Mhe aller Beteiligten, seinen Platz finden kann. In dieser Arbeit soll untersucht werden, ob der Sport diesem Personenkreis eine Struktur bieten kann, die Stabilitt und Kontinuitt und letztlich Gesundheit im Sinne der salutogenen psychischen und biologischen Einflsse ermglicht. Die Evidenz von Sport und Bewegung in Bezug auf Gesundheit als eine biopsychosoziale Einheit, wird am Beispiel von vier leichter geistig behinderten jungen Mnnern untersucht. Bietet diesen Jungen Wilden' der Sport auf dem Weg der Identittsfindung eine Mglichkeit Halt und Selbstbesttigung zu finden, ist er eine Alternative, zu der Versuchung unerfllte Bedrfnisse durch Drogen und Alkohol zu betuben? Als Einfhrung in die Thematik werden die zentralen Begrifflichkeiten Gesundheit, Sport und Bewegung sowie Geistige Behinderung definiert. Die Definition des Gesundheitsbegriffs wird an Aspekte der Salutogenese (lat. salus = Heil, Gesundheit, griech. genese = Entstehung) von Aaron Antonovsky geknpft, da dieses Konzept den Begriff Gesundheit in seiner Komplexitt und Subjektivitt in einer Form aufschlsselt, in welche sich das Phnomen' geistige Behinderung einordnen lsst, jedoch ohne defizitre Sichtweise. Dem gegenber wird das Modell der ICF als ein Konzept der funktionalen Gesundheit gestellt.
