Das in der Hausarbeit dargestellte Konzept der belastungsorientierten Auftragsfreigabe, welches zu den neueren Konzept gehrt, hat ebenfalls viele Nachteile und ist schon fast 30 Jahre alt. Trotzdessen wird die BOA noch in manchen Unternehmen eingesetzt, vor allem in der Werkstattfertigung. Mittlerweile ist die Produktionsplanung und steuerung aufgrund des steigenden Wettbewerbsdruckes und der Vernderung der Mrkte von groer Bedeutung. Nur die Unternehmen die innovative und auf den Kunden zugeschnittene Produkte herstellen, knnen sich von der Konkurrenz absetzen und am Markt bestehen. Viele Unternehmen haben daher bereits ein EDVuntersttztes PPSSystem oder planen sich eins anzuschaffen, um auf diese Vernderungen flexibel reagieren zu knnen. Unternehmer erhoffen sich durch den Einsatz von PPSSystemen ihren langfristigen Gewinn zu verbessern und die Teilziele der Durchlaufzeitenverkrzung, der Lagerbestandsreduktion, sowie der hheren Termintreue und Kapazittsauslastung zu erreichen. Diese Ziele stellen jedoch eine gewaltige Herausforderung dar. Dabei ist es besonders schwierig die internen Einflussfaktoren (z.B. Maschinenausflle, Krankenstand) und die externen Einflussfaktoren (z.B. Wirtschaftskrisen) vorher zu sehen und in ein PPSSystem mit einzubeziehen.
