The study discusses the history and the contents of the former library of the Cistercian convent in Kirchheim am Ries (near Nrdlingen, Bavaria). Research at the OettingenWallerstein Library of the University of Augsburg into which the Kirchheim library was incorporated in 1831 has enabled the author to reconstruct 69% of the library stocks at the disposal of the convent. Part Two of the study lists these stocks in the form of a catalogue. Part One combines a statistical record of the library stock (manuscripts and prints from the 15th to the 18th centuries) with a description of its historical development from the foundation of the convent (1270) to its disbanding in the course of the secularization process (1802).
