Der Bereich der neuen Kommunikationstechniken hat in den letzten Jahren zuneh mend an Bedeutung gewonnen. Die insbesondere von der Deutschen Bundespost vorangetriebene Entwicklung und Einfuhrung zahlreicher neuer Medien hat bei den potentiellen Nutzern teilweise zu groBer Unsicherheit gefuhrt; dabei blieb die Aus brei tung des einen oder anderen Mediums weit unter den ursprunglichen Erwartun gen zuruck. Unzureichend ist auBerdem der bisherige wissenschaftliche Erkenntnis stand uber die Diffusion neuer Kommunikationstechniken. Dies wurde zum AnlaB genommen, im Rahmen dieser Arbeit die Deterrninanten der Diffusion neuer Kommunikationstechniken gezielt zu untersuchen. Unter Zuhilfenahme des methodi schen Instrumentariums der Diffusionstheorie wurde die bisherige Ausbreitung ausgewahlter innovativer Kommunikationstechniken analysiert und die ktinftige Ent wicklung prognostiziert. Die bisherigen Ansiitze der Diffusionstheorie wurden dabei fur die spezielle Fragestellung erweitert und modifiziert. So wurde beispielsweise an stelle eines statischen Siittigungsniveaus, wie in der Diffusionsforschung bislang ub lich, fur jedes Medium ein dynamisches Marktpotential errnittelt und in die Modelle einbezogen. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt wurde ferner auf die Bedeutung der marketingpolitischen Instrumente fur die Diffusion neuer Medien gelegt. Exempla risch wurden die Kommunikationspolitik und die Entgeltpolitik der Anbieter herausgegriffen und explizit als erkliirende Variablen in den Diffusionsmodellen be rucksichtigt. Samtliche Modelle wurden anhand empirischer Daten getestet. Es konnte gezeigt werden, daB durch die genannten Erweiterungen der Erkliirungsgehalt der Modelle z. T. erheblich gesteigert werden konnte. Dadurch wurde es moglich, fur die ktinftige Ausbreitung neuer Kommunikationstechniken fundierte Prognosen zu erstellen. Die vorliegende Arbeit wurde von der Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakultat der Universitiit Tubingen als Dissertation angenommen.
