Meinen Dank fr die Hilfe bei der Erstellung dieses Dissertationsvorha bens mchte ich folgenden Einrichtungen und Personen aussprechen: Ein Forschungsaufenthalt in Paris von April bis September 1984 wurde mir durch ein Stipendium des "Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdien stes" und die anschlieende Ausarbeitung des vorliegenden Textes durch ein Promotionsstipendium der "Studiensti ftung des Deutschen Volkes" ermglicht. In Paris konsultierte ich vor allem Victor Karady und Phi lippe Besnard am "Maison des Sciences de I'Homme" (in Verbindung mit der "Groupe d'Etudes Durkheimiennes"), PierreBernard Lecuyer (am "Institut d'Histoire du Temps Present"), Zdenek Strmiska (am "Centre d' tthno logie Sociale et de Psychosociologie" in Montrouge) sowie Christophe Prochasson ("Agrege d'Histoire"). Die Betreuung der Arbeit in Bielefeld durch alle Phasen lag in den Hnden von Prof. Hansjrgen Daheim. An dieser Stelle mchte ich aber auch ausdrcklich an Prof. Vatlav Lamser erinnern, der im Rahmen seines eigenen Forschungsschwerpunktes ber die Geschichte der europischen Soziologie meine Arbeit anfnglich mitbetreute, aber vor ihrer endgltigen Fertigstellung nach langer und schwerer Krankheit starb. Deshalb sei ihm diese Arbeit gewidmet.
