Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit der WeltSystemtheorie Immanuel Wallersteins und zeigt ihre Bedeutung fr das Management in der modernen Gesellschaft auf. Das Wesen des Kapitalismus beruht dabei auf den asymmetrischen Strukturen des Austauschs und der geographischen wie funktionalen Arbeitsteilung innerhalb der Weltwirtschaft. Durch die "letztlich universale Kommodifizierung", eine Verwandlung aller Dinge sowie sozialer Prozesse in Waren, ermuntert das System seine Akteure zur maximalen Kapitalakkumulation mit dem Ziel, einen maximalen Profit zu erwirtschaften. So berstrapazieren sie die Wachstumsspirale und bringen das System letztendlich unwiderruflich aus dem Gleichgewicht. Laut Wallerstein befindet sich das sptkapitalistische WeltSystem des 21. Jahrhunderts aufgrund seiner inneren Widersprche und Entwicklungsgrenzen in einer krisenhaften bergangsphase an deren Ende ein politisch sowie wirtschaftlich integriertes, sozialistisches WeltSystem entstehen wird. Ziel sei daher ein gelenkter Wandel, um eine weitere Polarisierung und Hierarchisierung zu vermeiden und ein egalitreres und demokratischeres System zu etablieren. Um ihrem Interesse am Thema der Abschlussarbeit nachzugehen folgte ein einjhriger Aufenthalt in Grobritannien mit Besuch der Aberystwyth University in Wales, wo sie sich verstrkt der Politikwissenschaft widmete und sich im Centre for European Studies als Volontrin engagierte.
