Bush verfolgt und anwendet, um die Versorgungssicherheit der USA mit Erdl zu gewhrleisten. Die Versorgungssicherung mit Erdl ist fr die USA und ihre konomische berlebensfhigkeit entscheidend. Da die eigene Erdlproduktion immer weiter zurckgeht, der Verbrauch aber immer weiter ansteigt, mssen die USA immer mehr Erdl importieren. Die Sicherung der Energieversorgung erlangt also hchste Prioritt in der USPolitik. Ziel der vorgelegten Diplomarbeit ist es, den gegenwrtigen Charakter der USamerikanischen Erdlpolitik zu errtern und die Motivation der BushAdministration fr die durchgefhrte Erdlpolitik zu erklren. Zudem soll deutlich gemacht werden, dass die aktuelle USamerikanische Erdlpolitik Teil eines hegemonialen auenpolitischen Konzepts ist, welches Diplomatie, Handels, Whrungs und auch die Militrpolitik mit einbezieht. Zunchst wird analysiert (2.), wie elementar Erdl fr die Weltwirtschaft und somit auch fr die USA als fhrende Wirtschaftsmacht ist und welche Folgen auftreten, wenn es zu einer Verknappung dieser Ressource kommt. In den letzten Jahren wurde deutlich, dass die Endlichkeit der Ressource Erdl absehbar ist und das Produktionsmaximum (Peakoil) in den kommenden Jahren eintreten wird. Die Konsequenzen sind weit reichend und die Konkurrenz um die verbliebenen lquellen wird hrter. Die erkennbare Endlichkeit der Ressource Erdl hat also unmittelbare Auswirkungen auf die Erdlpolitik der BushAdministration. Das nchste Kapitel (3.) untersucht die Bedeutung der Ressource Erdl fr die USA und das Ausma der USamerikanischen Abhngigkeit vom Erdl. I
