Die beiden Trauerspiele haben die Konfrontation des Brgertums mit der Adelswillkr zur Grundthematik. Die in diesen Dramen stark ausgedrckte Gesellschaftskritik und der Stndekonflikt wurden in der Forschung intensiv als zentrale Themen dargelegt und analysiert. Absicht dieser Hausarbeit ist die Ausblendung vieler dieser in der Forschung herausgearbeiteten Aspekte. Die Familie soll so weit es geht aus dem Kontext genommen werden, um eine Konzentration auf das Beziehungsgeflecht und die Problematik der Struktur der Kernfamilie zu erreichen. Nach der Auflsung der traditionellen Hausgemeinschaft im 17. Jahrhundert, vollzog sich ein Wandel des Familienverstndnisses, das nun als ideale Liebesgemeinschaft empfunden wurde. Dieser Wandel fhrte zu innerfamiliren Konflikten, was die Funktion und Rollensicherheit einzelner Familienmitglieder betraf. Innerhalb der Familie herrschten Gefhle, auerhalb Normen, Regeln und Interesse. Die Schwierigkeit lag darin, keine Kluft sichtbar werden zu lassen, was sich als problematisch erwies. Der hfischen Welt der Kabale setzen Lessing und Schiller die private Welt der Familie gegenber. Es ist die brgerliche Kleinfamilie, mit ihrer patriarchalischen Struktur, die ins Licht gerckt werden soll. Emilia Galotti" und Kabale und Liebe" sind, wie die meisten Dramen Lessings und des jungen Schillers, Dramen der Familie in der Krise.
