Daher soll in dieser Arbeit zunchst mit der Darstellung und Analyse der Geschichte der Gesamtschule, die zugleich die Geschichte des dreigliedrigen Schulsystems in Deutschland ist, begonnen werden. Dabei sind besonders die Anfnge der Etablierung eines einheitlichen Schulsystems im Zuge der Reformen des deutschen Bildungssystems ab 1871 und um 1920 zu beachten, sowie die weitgreifende Kritik und Umstrukturierung des deutschen Schulsystems nach 1945 durch die Alliierten. Anschlieend mssen natrlich die eigentliche Entstehungszeit der Gesamtschule und die politischen und sozialen Umstnde unter denen sie als Schulversuch" berall in Deutschland eingefhrt wurde, bercksichtigt werden. Zu dieser geschichtlichen Beleuchtung des Themas sollen vor allem die Arbeiten von Oelkers und Herrlitz bercksichtigt werden. Ein zweiter, (...) Aspekt, (...), sind die pdagogischen und inhaltlichen Zielsetzungen der Gesamtschule. Wodurch unterscheidet sich die Gesamtschule von anderen Schulformen? Welche Schwerpunkte werden gesetzt? Diese Fragestellungen sollen vor allem anhand der Arbeiten von Rken und Prengel errtert werden. Zuletzt soll ein Blick in die Zukunft geworfen werden. Wird sich das Schulsystem in NRW im Zuge der Umstrukturierungen Abitur in 12 Jahren" und Einheitsabitur" im Hinblick auf die Gesamtschule positiv verndern? Wird die Gesamtschule weiter ausgebaut oder eher zurck gedrngt werden? Lassen sich Vorurteile ihr gegenber abbauen oder werden sie durch die Praxis an den bestehenden Gesamtschulen besttigt?
