Mit dem achten Band der Handschriftenkataloge der Staats und Stadtbibliothek Augsburg, wird die Katalogisierung des allgemeinen Fonds mit seinen mehr als 1150 Handschriften abgeschlossen. Die 191 zur Halfte mittelalterlichen und fruhneuzeitlichen Handschriften aus 199 Banden im Oktavformat wurden von Juliane Trede und Wolf Gehrt beschrieben. Mehr als 80 der Bande stammen aus dem Benediktinerkloster St. Ulrich und Afra in Augsburg, in dem sich in der Zeit um 1500 fur die Konventualen Veit Bild, Sigismund Lang, Johannes Mickel und Clemens Sender kleine Privatbibliotheken rekonstruieren lassen, die ihre geistigen Interessen und Lesegewohnheiten offenlegen. Andere Handschriften aus St. Ulrich und Afra stehen im Zusammenhang mit den Reformbemuhungen des Klosters im 15. Jahrhundert. Weitere Augsburger Provenienzen sind neben der 1537 gegrundeten Augsburger Stadtbibliothek und dem Evangelischen Kolleg das Jesuitenkolleg St. Salvator, die AugustinerChorherrenstifte Heilig Kreuz und St. Georg, das Dominikanerkloster St. Magdalena und das FranziskanerOberservantenKloster Heilig Grab. Die Handschriften aus den Benediktinerklostern Benediktbeuren und Irsee, der BenediktinerFurstabtei Kempten und dem Mindelheimer Jesuitenkolleg sind hingegen Sakularisationsgut aus Bayerisch Schwaben ausserhalb von Augsburg.
