Product DescriptionDie gotische Kathedrale, heute als Monument des Mittelalters vor allem unter architektonischen Gesichtspunkten bewundert, stellte Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts in Frankreich weit mehr als ein Bauwerk lange vergangener und auch vergessener Zeiten dar. Sie stand als Sinnbild fr das Ancien Rgime, reprsentierte mit ihrem gotischen Baustil gleichzeitig die nationalen Ansprche der Republik und stand zudem als sichtbares Zeichen fr die wieder aufgekommenen Fragen von Mystik, Religion und Glauben. Anliegen dieser Arbeit ist es einerseits zu untersuchen, ob die Maler des franzsischen Impressionismus mit ihren Sakraldarstellungen diesen Aspekten der gotischen Kathedrale Rechnung trugen, und andererseits, ob sich fr das Sakralmotiv eine Art Entwicklungsgeschichte innerhalb der Malerei schreiben lt. Diesen Fragestellungen wird insbesondere anhand der Gemldeserien von Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro und Maximilien Luce nachgegangen.About the AuthorDie Autorin: Dagmar E. Kronenberger wurde 1964 in Wesel geboren. Nach Abschlu ihrer Banklehre studierte sie an der Universitt Mnster Kunstgeschichte mit den Nebenfchern Psychologie, Musikwissenschaften und Politik. Das parallele Studium der Betriebswirtschaftslehre schlo sie 1991 als Diplomkauffrau ab.
