Fr den interkulturellen Dialog zwischen den europischen Lndern und ihren muslimischen Nachbarn spielen die Knste eine zentrale Rolle. Jede Kunst hat eine ihr eigene Sprache entwickelt, die den Menschen hilft, in Beziehung zueinander zu treten und sich auszutauschen. Die Knste geben den Kulturen die Mglichkeit sich auszudrcken und tragen zur Entstehung kultureller Identitt bei. Sie formen die Wahrnehmungen, Erinnerungen, Vorstellungen und damit das individuelle und kollektive Imaginre. In ihnen erfahren die Menschen die Alteritt anderer Kulturen und ihrer selbst und werden dadurch gebildet. Die Knste sind nicht nur den Angehrigen ihrer Kultur, sondern allen Menschen zugnglich. Sie vermitteln heterologische Erfahrungen und haben daher fr die Verstndigung zwischen den verschiedenen Kulturen eine groe Bedeutung.
