Ich mchte versuchen, den Text vor dem Hintergrund der literaturtheoretischen Konzepte der fiktionalen und mglichen Welten zu untersuchen, d.h. es soll dargestellt werden, auf welche Weise Fry bei der Konstruktion der Welten in seinem Roman auf theoretische berlegungen zurckgreift. Die Voraussetzung fr Frys Roman, in dem der realen, d.h. der im fiktionalen Rahmen realen Welt eine parallele alternative Welt gegenbergestellt wird, ist, da das traditionelle Verstndnis von "Geschichte" erweitert wird. Daher soll im 1. Kapitel ein Vergleich des herkmmlichen Konzepts des Geschichtsbegriffs mit dem, was in Making History unter "Geschichte" verstanden wird, unternommen werden. Daran anschlieend soll eine Analyse der vom Autor verwendeten Erzhltechnik und Stilmittel zeigen, auf welche Weise der Roman Welten nebeneinander stellt und gleichzeitig die Existenz dieser Welten in Frage gestellt wird. Das Kapitel 3 wird sich mit dem Konzept der fiktionalen und mglichen Welten befassen. Hierbei scheint es mir sinnvoll, fr die einzelnen Kapitel des Romans eine zeitliche und geographische Strukturierung vorzunehmen, um sie so den Handlungsstrngen, die die Welten des Romans konstituieren, zuzuordnen. In Kapitel 4 soll eine Gegenberstellung der parallelen Welten zeigen, wie der Autor seine Romanwelten konstruiert. Kapitel 5 und 6 werden sich mit den Figuren des Romans beschftigen, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf dem Protagonisten Michael Young liegen wird, der als einzige der Romanfiguren die Mglichkeit hat, die Grenze zwischen den Welten zu berschreiten und sich bewut zu machen, da berhaupt mehrere Welten parallel existieren.
