Diese Examensarbeit widmet sich den mitteleuropischen Ameisenarten und soll einen Einblick in ihre Lebensweise bieten. Dazu werden alle wichtigen Zusammenhnge in Bezug auf Anatomie, Entwicklung, Nestbau, Gesellschaftsleben, Sinnesorgane und Ernhrung erlutert. Die ersten Kapitel bieten eine Einfhrung in die wichtigsten Details ber Ameisen, folgend wird die Haltung dieser Tiere behandelt, die besonders in jngster Zeit in Deutschland an Popularitt gewonnen hat. Es wird ein kleiner Einblick in die Anschaffung und Einrichtung von Formikarien geboten und die wichtigsten Kriterien zur erfolgreichen sowie artgerechten Ameisenhaltung erlutert. In diesem Zusammenhang wird auch auf die Bedeutung des Themas Ameisen" im Biologieunterricht an allgemeinbildenden Schulen eingegangen. Es werden mgliche thematische Schwerpunkte und Herangehensweisen zur Unterrichtsvorbereitung behandelt und die Vorteile eines Ameisenformikariums in der Schule verdeutlicht. Die Arbeit endet mit der Vorstellung von einigen bei Ameisenhaltern beliebten Ameisenarten und beschreibt einige artspezifische Verhaltensweisen sowie wichtige Details zur Ftterung.
