Man findet sie verstreut in elf Studioalben, die zwischen 1979 und 2002 entstanden sind, zusammengestellt von Herbert Grnemeyer und Anton Corbijn im Buch von 2004 oder im Internet auf diversen Fanseiten. Zunchst werden Textkorpus und Autor vorgestellt und die Themen der Texte, Perspektive und Gliederung der Arbeit erklrt. Grnemeyers Metaphern werden verschiedenen Herkunftsbereichen, welche sich auf unterschiedliche Zielbereiche bertragen lassen, zugeordnet. Zielbereiche im ersten Teil sind Themen, die das Individuum, das Subjektive im Blick hatten in zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen, in Liebe, Eifersucht, Einsamkeit oder Trauer. Zielbereiche im zweiten Teil sind Themen, welche die Menschen als Gemeinschaft betreffen in Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft. Der letzte Teil behandelt die Verwendung der Metaphern in Grnemeyers Texten, den Unterschied zwischen Wortmetaphern, Satz und Textmetaphern und Funktion und Wirkung der Metaphern. Am Schluss bleibt die Frage, ob neben Herkunft und Verwendung der Metaphern, ob zwischen Bildfeldern, Metaphernarten und funktionen, die Themen ausreichend besprochen sind, bleibt die Frage, ob der Einblick in die Metapherntheorie verstndlich erklrt wurde und schlielich die Frage, ob der Autor mit der Analyse seiner Texte zufrieden sein kann.
