Und wie es sich fr gewhnlich in einem solchen Rahmen verhlt, sparte auch Whitehead nicht mit Superlativen, um auf Werk und Leben des Jubilars Dewey zurckzublicken. Dewey knne demnach zweifelsohne mit zu den grten Geistern der Menschheit gerechnet werden und seine Leistungen erzeugten und erzeugen Zerstrung erstarrter Denkgewohnheiten". (Schreier 1994, S. 47) Allerdings und hier ist Whitehead weniger Gratulant, denn selbst Philosoph und Wissenschaftler sieht er in dieser Kraft und Wirkung des Werkes auch Gefahren, die er wie folgt beschreibt bzw. zusammenfasst: The excellence of Dewey's work in the expression of notions relevant to modern civilisation increases the danger of sterilising thought within the puny limitations of today." (ebd.) Diese erhhte Gefahr einer neuerlichen Erstarrung liegt dabei besonders in der Schwierigkeit des Zugangs zu Deweys Philosophie bzw. Pdagogik begrndet.
