Wohl kaum ein politisches Groprojekt hat von der Problemerkennung bis zur letztendlichen gesetzlichen Normierung so lange gebraucht wie die Einfhrung der gesetzlichen Pflegeversicherung. Im Jahre 1994 wurde schlielich das Gesetz verabschiedet, so dass es am 01.01.1995 in Kraft treten konnte. Die soziale Pflegeversicherung galt als der einzig realistische Weg fr eine umfassende und sofortige Absicherung des Pflegerisikos. Heute, keine zehn Jahre nach der Einfhrung, steht Deutschland, so scheint es, am Scheideweg: Neben der Renten und Krankenversicherung ist auch die Pflegeversicherung offenbar an die Grenze der Finanzierbarkeit gestoen. Durch die demografische Entwicklung und weitere gesellschaftlichen Vernderungen steht die Pflegeversicherung vor groen Problemen und Herausforderungen, auf die der Gesetzgeber umgehend reagieren muss, um auch weiterhin Leistungen fr Pflegebedrftige vorhalten zu knnen. Es stellt sich die Frage, wie es denn nun allgemein um die Zukunftsfhigkeit der sozialen Pflegeversicherung in Deutschland steht.
