Damals wie heute gibt es wohl kaum jemanden, der sich mit Alkibiades beschftigt hat, dem dieser vllig egal wre. Man hasste ihn oder man liebte ihn. Diese Polarisation lsst sich selbst heute noch in der modernen Forschungsliteratur wiederfinden. So versuchen Einige den Untergang der athenischen Demokratie mit seiner skrupellosen, Menschen verachtenden und unmoralischen Vorgehensweise zu erklren. Andere wiederum folgen eher der These des Thukydides und gehen davon aus, dass vielmehr das Volk, dass seine Individualitt, seine extravagante Lebensweise und seine hochgesteckten Ziele nicht ertragen konnte und ihn mehrfach verdammte, letztendlich die Verantwortung fr den Niedergang der Stadt hatte, und dass Alkibiades, htte er nur die Chance bekommen, all das htte verhindern knnen. Die vorliegende Magisterarbeit analysiert die politische Vorgehensweise des Alkibiades. Diese Analyse scheint, auf Grund der umfangreichen Literatur zu diesem Thema, wenig ntzlich zu sein. Dennoch glaube ich, dass eine andere Herangehensweise, trotz der vielen Arbeiten, die sich mit dem Leben des Alkibiades, seiner Politik und den Umstnden des Peloponnesischen Krieges befasst haben, durchaus Sinn macht. Ich halte es fr durchaus notwendig die politischen Entscheidungen des Alkibiades, mit Blick auf seine Person, seinen Charakter und seine Lebensumstnde, erneut zu untersuchen. Besonders seine persnliche Motivation findet hufig, wenn berhaupt, nur oberflchliche Beachtung.
