Der Verbrauch an Siedlungs und Verkehrsflchen in Deutschland hat in den letzten Jahren stetig zugenommen. Als Ursache dafr gelten aber nicht eine wachsende Bevlkerungszahl, sondern der gestiegene Flchenkonsum pro Person sowie anhaltende Suburbanisierungstendenzen. In dieser Arbeit wird daher untersucht, welche Potentiale von innerstdtischen Brachflchen als Wohnstandorte ausgehen, um diesen Trends entgegensteuern zu knnen. Dazu werden in den ersten Kapiteln die theoretischen Grundlagen, welche die Rahmenbedingungen des Wohnwandels und der Wohnstandortwahl sowie die Eigenschaften von Brachflchen betreffen, ermittelt. Anschlieend werden durch die Analyse der Beispiele Wohnpark Holland in Bochum, der Siedlung Tremonia in Dortmund, dem Innenhafen in Duisburg und der Siedlung Kppersbusch in Gelsenkirchen anhand verschiedener Themenblcke Strken und Schwchen der einzelnen Beispiele herausgestellt. Auf dieser Grundlage erfolgt abschlieend die Konzeption von generellen Aussagen sowie von Handlungsempfehlungen, um die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse auf andere Projekte bertragbar zu machen.
