Es geht ein Gespenst um in Amerika, das Gespenst der Freiheit. Es versetzt die wenigen Mchtigen, die Einflussreichen, die groen Nettostaatsprofiteure in Angst und Schrecken und gibt jenen vielen Hoffnung, die unter einem Gesellschaftssystem leiden, das, trotz einer groartigen freiheitlichen Tradition, schon seit mindestens einem Jahrhundert nicht mehr ehrlicherweise frei genannt werden kann. Wer ist dieses Gespenst und was macht es zu einer Erscheinung, die das politische Establishment offensichtlich in Schrecken versetzt? Man mag sich auch fragen, wer oder was es denn gerufen hat? Da Gespenster zwar oft pltzlich auftauchen und wieder verschwinden, aber sonst ein Dasein im Verborgenen fristen, scheint es auch verwunderlich, warum es solange fast niemand bemerkt hat? Es wird beim ersten Blick auf das anfngliche Zitat deutlich, dass sich diese Arbeit nicht mit einer Person beschftigt, ber die es in der europischen und angelschsischen ffentlichkeit eine breite literarische Basis gibt oder die den Bekanntheitsgrad eines John McCain, dem republikanischen Kandidaten der letzten Prsidentschaftswahl in den USA, geniet. Fast ausnahmslos interessierten sich die Massenmedien bisher nie fr Ron Pauls politische Karriere und seine Leitgedanken. Doch genau hier kommt die Entwicklung der jngsten Vergangenheit zum Zuge, denn Pauls Berhmtheit verdankt er einem Medium, das im Begriff ist sich als neue Hauptinformationsquelle fr die Menschheit zu etablieren. Die Rede ist vom Internet und seiner scheinbar noch grenzenlosen Freiheit und der Mglichkeit fr kleine Gruppen ein breites Publikum zu erreichen.
