Die Frage welche Variett als berregionale Hoch und Literatursprache die geeignete ist, damit sich alle Menschen des betroffenen Gebietes damit identifizieren knnen und so eine Gemeinschaft basierend auf einem Zusammengehrigkeitsgefhl mglich ist , wurde besonders im Gebiet des heutigen Italien ber mehrere Jahrhunderte hinweg diskutiert. Den Anfang nahm die Auseinandersetzung, als man sich zu fragen begann, welches Latein das korrekteste sei. Diese Fragestellung kann als Questione della lingua I aufgefasst werden. Als jedoch die Schere zwischen Latein als Schriftsprache und dem volgare als Sprechsprache immer weiter aufging, setzte ein neuer Diskurs darber ein, ob denn nun das Latein zugunsten des volgare als Schriftsprache zurcktreten sollte. Dies kann als Questione della lingua II verstanden werden. Das Thema dieser Arbeit ist die Questione della lingua im Cinquecento. Diese Questione della lingua III ist die ausgeprgteste. Sie beschftigt sich mit der Kontroverse, welches der unterschiedlichen volgari wrdig ist als Hoch bzw. Literatursprache berregional, also als Italienisch, Verwendung zu finden. Ausgelst wurde sie vor allem durch die Tatsache, dass ab etwa 1470 Bcher in italienischer Sprache gedruckt und so schnell verbreitet wurden. Als Folge wurden verschiedene Sprachtheorien aufgestellt, die in der Arbeit jeweils kurz vorgestellt werden (zusammen mit ihren Hauptvertretern). Kurz geht die Arbeit zuvor noch auf Dantes De Vulgari Eloquentia ein, da dieser sich in seinem Werk schon im 14. Jahrhundert mit
