Product Description Weshalb darf der Staat seine Brgerinnen und Brger fr eine Handlung bestrafen? Diese Frage ist seit der Antike zentral fr die politische Philosophie. Es gibt grundstzlich zwei Anstze, welche die Frage auf unterschiedliche Weise beantworten. Zum einen kann die Schuld einer Person als hinreichender Grund betrachtet werden, eine Person zu bestrafen. In diesem Fall vertritt man eine retributivistische Theorie. Zum anderen kann man zeigen, dass die Bestrafung von Verbrechern fr die Gesellschaft positive Konsequenzen hat. Argumentiert man so, rechtfertigt man die Bestrafung aus konsequentialistischen Grnden. Diese Abhandlung zeigt zunchst die jeweiligen Vor und Nachteile der Anstze auf. Aus der Beurteilung folgt dann die Entwicklung einer Theorie, die versucht die beiden Anstze zu verbinden und die Widersprche aufzulsen.
