Im starken Gegensatz dazu sind in den heutigen westlichen Demokratien die gewaltausbenden Institutionen von der Majoritt der Population legitimiert und durch rechtliche Instanzen in der Autorittsausbung hohen Restriktionen unterworfen. Dabei geht der Souvernittsverlust an die legitimierten nationalstaatlichen Institutionen der Moderne einher mit Steigerungen der Lebensqualitt im Hinblick auf polizeilich, juristisch und anderweitig intensivierte Sicherheit. Die Empfnglichkeit und Akzeptanz fr Weisungen Anderer im Individuum zu etablieren, zeitgleich jedoch die Fhigkeit zur kritischen Selbstreflektion und Vernunft bedachtem Handeln herzustellen, obliegt, mehr noch als der sozialtechnischen Institution Schule und anderen legitimen normativen Organisationen, in hohem Mae der Familie. Max Horkheimer schreibt in den Studien ber Autoritt und Familie:' Je mehr wir die Bedeutung der politischen, moralischen, und religisen Anschauungen der neueren Zeit fr die Gesellschaft analysierten, umso deutlicher trat die Autoritt als ein entscheidender Faktor hervor.
