Es gelingt ihm, eine Reihe von interessanten Objekten mit gut durchdachten Lsungsanstzen zu kreieren. Seine Form und Farbgebung ist stark beeinflusst von der Populrkultur der Sechzigerjahre. Die Verwendung von Kunststoffen in knalligen Farben und die leicht organisch anmutende Attitde sind es, die seinen Entwrfen die Anmut seiner Zeit verleihen. Seine Utopie des Wohnens ist geprgt von Visionen aus ScienceFiction und der Romantisierung der Zukunft. Die Total Furnishing Unit, die als Auftragsarbeit fr die berblicksschau Italy: The New Domestic Landscape 1971 1972 geschaffen wurde, wird innerhalb einer Reihe von Positionen des Radical Design gezeigt. Colombo konzipiert seine Total Furnishing Unit als 'funktionierendes' Objekt, das auf verschiedene Probleme des Wohnens funktionsgerecht von der Kche bis zum Badezimmer eingeht. Colombos Objekt ist stark von den Idealen des Pop und SpaceAgeDesigns geprgt und erscheint neben den Objekten seiner Kollegen wie aus einer anderen Epoche. Im Zentrum stehen die Neuordnung des Wohnraums und die Kritik an der italienischen Mbelproduktion. Colombo fordert, sich vom Entwurf einzelner Mbel abzuwenden und diese zu immer komplexeren Wohneinheiten und Wohnsystemen zusammenzufassen. Obwohl Colombo sich vehement von der Moderne distanziert, scheint sein universeller Lsungsansatz des Anti Designs nicht mehr als ein auf Le Corbusier zurckgreifendes modulares System zu sein. ...
