Der Autor fhrt in russischer Kriegsgefangenschaft Tagebuch. Auf dnnem Zigarettenpapier beschreibt er in winziger Schrift das groe Elend um ihn her. "Hungerhospital Paschkowskaja", "Noworossijsk", "Krasnaja Poljana" heien einige Stationen, auf denen er inmitten von Klte, Hunger, Krankheit und Sterben zum christlichen Glauben findet. Als er in der Silvesternacht 1949/1950 entlassen wird, gelingt es ihm, das Aufgeschriebene durch die Kontrolle in Brest zu schmuggeln. Wenig spter bertrgt er die Miniaturschrift in ein Manuskript. Studium und Familiengrndung hindern ihn zunchst, das Projekt zu vollenden. Angesichts der politischen Entwicklung in der DDR lt er die Aufzeichnungen bei seinem Schwager in Hannover verwahren. Erst nach der Wende kann der Autor sein Buch endlich fertigstellen. Als Pseudonym hat er in Erinnerung an seine schlesische Herkunft den Namen Henryk Silesius gewhlt.
