Zu dem wirtschaftlichen Schaden kommt oft noch ein erheblicher Reputationsverlust, der die Geschftsbeziehungen der betroffenen Unternehmen erheblich beeintrchtigt. Die Wirtschaftsprfungsgesellschaften haben die Wirtschaftskriminalitt inzwischen als einen Markt fr sich entdeckt und mit dem Aufbau von Spezialabteilungen reagiert, welche sich ausschlielich mit der Aufdeckung und Bekmpfung von Wirtschaftskriminalitt beschftigen. Diese Spezialabteilungen, hufig als Forensic Services, Dispute Consulting oder Integrity Services' bezeichnet, bieten Dienstleistungen an, die sich in vielen Bereichen grundlegend von der gesetzlichen Jahresabschlussprfung unterscheiden. Das Angebotsspektrum dieser Spezialabteilungen umfasst dabei neben der Durchfhrung von Sonderprfungen zur Aufdeckung von Wirtschaftskriminalitt auch Beratungsdienstleistungen zur Prvention. Diese Untersuchung wird sich jedoch auf die Sonderprfungen, im Folgenden forensische Prfungen genannt, beschrnken. Hufig wird im Zusammenhang mit forensischen Prfungen auch von Unterschlagungsprfungen gesprochen. Der Begriff Unterschlagungsprfung ist dabei insofern irrefhrend, als dass forensische Prfungen neben dem Tatbestand der Unterschlagung ( 246 StGB) smtliche Ausprgungen der Wirtschaftskriminalitt umfassen.
