Die Arbeit liefert einen Beitrag zur verhaltenswissenschaftlichen Preistheorie. Sie behandelt theoretisch und empirisch die fr die Theoriebildung wichtige und fr die preispolitische Praxis relevante Fragestellung: Wie werden Preise von Konsumenten als Information intern verarbeitet, d.h. wahrgenommen und beurteilt? Auf der Basis des Informationsverarbeitungsansatzes (IVA) und der Adaptionsniveau (AL) Theorie wird ein integrativer theoretischer Rahmen entwickelt, der es erlaubt, die Verarbeitung von Preisinformationen durch den Konsumenten zu beschreiben, zu erklren und empirisch zu berprfen. Fr die Forschung liefern die empirischen Ergebnisse erste Anhaltspunkte, wie Preise kodiert und gespeichert werden. Es zeigt sich, da der Schlssel zum Verstndnis von Konsumentenreaktionen auf Preise, hier Preisbeurteilungen, in der Beschftigung mit den intern ablaufenden Verarbeitungsprozessen, insbesondere der Kodierung liegt. Weiterhin gelingt der empirische Nachweis einer Preisschwelle und der bertragbarkeit der ALtheoretischen Erkenntnisse auf die PreisinformationsVerarbeitung. Fr die Praxis lieferen die empirischen Ergebnisse Entscheidungshilfe fr die Art der Preisauszeichnung, Hufigkeit und Hhe von Preisnderungen sowie Anstze fr neue MarktsegmentierungsKriterien (ALPreis) und zur Preispositionierung von ProduktNeueinfhrungen.
