Bislang gab es noch keine ausfhrlichen Darstellungen der Dialekte des europischen Romani und ihrer sprachgeschichtlichen Beziehungen zueinander. Hier wird zum ersten Mal eine Dialektgruppe phonologisch und besonders morphologisch vergleichend gesichtet, auf ltere gemeinsame Vorformen zurckgefhrt und die Herausbildung der Divergenzen nachgezeichnet. Die Arbeit ist mit einem umfangreichen Anhang von dialektgeographischen Karten versehen, ebenfalls eine Novitt in der Tsiganologie. Die hier untersuchten Dialekte bilden nur eine sehr lose Einheit, die sich am ehesten durch ein Netzwerk von gemeinsamen Zgen zwischen jeweils benachbarten Dialekten konstituiert.
