Wenn versucht wird, den einzelnen vor Bonifatius berlieferten 15 Bischofsnamen von dem fragwrdigen Mar(t)inus ber Aureus bis Gewiliobus (8. Jh.) ein historisch vertretbares Profil zu verleihen, gilt es vor allem bei den Bischfen der Rmerzeit, zuverlssige Informationen von legendenhaften Erweiterungen zu scheiden, wie sie mit Sicherheit etwa bei der Aureus oder der TheonestTradition eingeflossen sind.
