Er kmpfte auf Seiten der Republikaner im Brgerkrieg und wurde an dessen Ende zum Tode verurteilt. 1946 erfolgte die Begnadigung, viel spter 1971 ist er gar zum Mitglied der Real Academia Espaola ernannt worden. Buero Vallejo ist als eine herausragende Einzelfigur seiner Zeit in Erscheinung getreten, sein groer Erfolg Historia de una escalera steht heute als ein Symbol fr die Wiederbelebung und Erneuerung des spanischen Theaters. Der von ihm dargestellte, ins Tragische reichende Realismus setzte sich stark ab von der gerade vorherrschenden Frivolitt, dem Klamauk und der Kritiklosigkeit des Theaters in Spanien. Wie sich Bueros Sozialkritik mit der Zensur des diktatorischen FrancoRegimes vereinen lie, und wie sich der Autor geschickt an die repressiven Gegebenheiten anpasste, das sind Fragen die im Verlauf dieser Arbeit geklrt werden sollen. Es wird gezeigt, dass er durch gnstige Entwicklungen in eine besondere Rolle hineinfand, die ihm den Umgang mit der Zensur um manches erleichterte. Fr ein ausreichendes Hintergrundverstndnis wird jedoch zunchst etwas nher auf die Situation der Literatur unter dem Franquismus, sowie auf einige wichtige Zensurpraktiken eingegangen. Dabei mssen die Auswirkungen der politischen ffnung des Regimes auf die Zensur, und die damit zusammenhngende Liberalisierung in den 60er Jahren, in die berlegungen miteinbezogen werden. Das Theater steht dabei besonders im Fokus. Der hintere Teil der Arbeit befasst sich dann konkret mit dem Theater Antonio Buero Vallejos unter der Zensur. Es wird erlutert, wie...
