Mullets form one of the major components of brackish water farming all over the world. Successful and sustainable culture of mullet depends on use of nutritionally balanced low cost ecofriendly feeds. Protein is the most important and expansive ingredient; its inclusion from various sources should follow a careful assessment of the nutritive quality. The price of fish meal has increased sharply. Oil cakes are good sources of protein for fish feed which are available on a large scale as byproduct of edible oil industry e.g.groundnut, soyabean, sunflower, coconut, linseed and mustard cakes. These have traditionally been used as feed ingredients for fish culture. The efficacy of different oil cakes has been evaluated as dietary protein source for various fish species. However, there is a paucity of information on the use of different Oil Cakes as potential feed ingredients for fry of Liza parsia. Therefore the present study was undertaken to evaluate the practical diet supplemented with different oil cakes such as Groundnut Oil Cake,Mustard Oil Cake and Soyabean Oil Cake on growth, survival and bioenergetic parameters on fry of Liza parsia.
