Mittlerweile knnen fast alle Bereiche der Filmherstellung auf computergesttzte Systeme zugreifen, sei es in der Bildbearbeitung, im Schnitt, in der Synchronisation oder Kamerasteuerung, um nur einige zu nennen. Besonderes Augenmerk liegt auf der Computeranimation und ihrer Verbindung mit Realfilmaufnahmen. Die Fortschritte, die in diesem Bereich seit dem Beginn der 90er Jahre gemacht wurden, sind gewaltig, und das Tempo dieser Entwicklung scheint immer noch weiter anzusteigen. Die neue Technologie gewinnt aber nicht nur fr das Kino an Bedeutung: Die Neuen' digitalen Medien dringen zunehmend in alle Lebensbereiche vor und sind Zeichen einer globalen Entwicklung zur Informationsgesellschaft und des damit einhergehenden fortschreitenden Abstraktionsprozesses der Kommunikation. In starker Wechselwirkung mit einer massiven Expansion des Wirtschaftsfaktors leitet die zunehmende elektronische Durchdringung der Gesellschaft neue Strukturen im Herstellungs und Distributionsverfahren ein und wirkt sich nachhaltig in einer spezifisch technischen sthetik und einer entsprechend technisch orientierten Wahrnehmung aus. Dieser Trend lst auf der einen Seite eine Welle der Euphorie aus, die im Technokult v.a. junger Leute aber auch in den hoffnungsvollen Wirtschaftsprognosen des Medienbereichs ihren Ausdruck findet.
