Vorwartstreibende Instanzen der Diktaturdurchsetzung in Sachsen waren die Sowjetische Besatzungsmacht und die von ihr gesteuerte kommunistische Partei. Sie zeichneten an erster Stelle fur die Errichtung eines Systems der simulierten Demokratie und spater fur den Ubergang zur offenen Diktatur verantwortlich. Der vorliegende Band analysiert die Rolle der Besatzungsmacht und ihres deutschen Instruments bei der Formierung eines neuen politischen Systems und seiner polizeistaatlichen Strukturen. Beleuchtet werden weiterhin die Instrumente und Methoden der Diktaturdurchsetzung, so etwa die politisch instrumentalisierte Entnazifizierung, weitreichende Sauberungen und fruhzeitige Versuche zur umfassenden Mobilisierung der Bevolkerung. Eine Einbettung dieser Prozesse in das deutschlandpolitische und internationale Geschehen erfolgt anhand von Analysen der politischprogrammatischen Vorstellungen Stalins und der sowjetischen Expansionsbestrebungen unmittelbar nach 1945.
