Este libro inicia con un estudio general del estado del arte de la ciencia que estudia formalmente la interaccion entre el lenguaje natural y las computadoras: la linguistica computacional. En el Capitulo 2 exploramos el estado del arte de diversos enfoques y sen~alamos ventajas y desventajas de los formalismos de constituyentes, de las reglas de reescritura y de los formalismos de dependencias. En este trabajo adoptamos este ultimo enfoque. En el Capitulo 3 describimos la estructura general del sistema propuesto hbrido de reglas y estadsticas. La recopilacion de estas estadisticas se realiza mediante preferencias de seleccion, tema que abordamos en detalle en el Capitulo 4. Una ambiguedad particularmente importante que hemos decidido tratar a detalle, es la desambiguacion de union de sintagma preposicional. Este tema es tratado a detalle en el Capitulo 5. En el captulo 6 presentamos una evaluacin de nuestro sistema, y en el captulo 7 presentamos dos aplicaciones: desambiguacin de sentidos de palabra y esteganografa lingstica.
