El Diseo de los procedimientos del Sistema de Gestin de Informacin de la biblioteca de la Universidad de Cienfuegos tiene como objetivo establecer el modo de ejecucin y los estandares de desempeo de los procesos claves o misionales de la biblioteca universitaria. Es decir, el desarrollo de colecciones o tambin llamado proceso de seleccin y adquisicin, los procesos tcnicos (clasificacin y catalogacin) y los procesos de servicios, ya sea tradicionales o especializados, a travs de herramientas universales (Diagrama SIPOC, diagrama de flujo estndar, diagramas de flujos funcionales o matriciales, Fichas de los procesos involucrados en el estudio y los procedimientos operativos), con el fin de identificar las necesidades de informacin, acceder a ellas, procesarlas y usarlas eficientemente de manera que en la formacin del profesional se creen las competencias necesarias para su desempeo.
