Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Geowissenschaften / Geographie Regionalgeographie, Note: 1,7, Universitt Potsdam, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Zuge der Apartheid und der damit verbundenen rechtlichen Restriktionen fr die Einwohner Sdafrikas wurden vor allem die Stdte durch die spezielle Stadtplanungspolitik der ApartheidRegierung beeinflusst. Dabei gibt es Gebiete, die durch besonders tragische Schicksale Geschichte geschrieben haben. Drastische Beispiele sind Gebiete, aus denen whrend der Apartheid alle Einwohner (in diesen Fllen Schwarze und Coloured) zwangsumgesiedelt wurden, um diese Bereiche als Wohngebiete fr weie Einwohner frei zu machen. Zu nennen sind in diesem Zusammenhang Viertel wie Cato Manor in Durban, Sophiatown in Johannesburg und der District Six in Kapstadt. Diese Arbeit wird sich im Speziellen mit der Geschichte und der Entwicklung des District Six beschftigen, da dieser eine Besonderheit gegenber den anderen eben genannten Gebieten aufweist: der District Six wurde im Gegensatz zu Sophiatown und Cato Manor trotz ursprnglicher Planung nur in geringem Mae wieder bebaut und ist deshalb besser bekannt als eine Brachflche, die an die Innenstadt Kapstadts anschliet. Kein anderes Viertel Sdafrikas wurde zudem so stark umkmpft und hat auch international soviel Aufsehen erregt. Seit einigen Jahren luft nun ein aktiver Prozess zur Wiederbelebung des District Six, dessen Darstellung ebenso Schwerpunkt dieser Arbeit sein soll. Um Problemen bei der Begriffsverwendung vorzubeugen, erfolgt zu Beginn der Arbeit eine Definition der wichtigsten Begriffe, die im Zusammenhang mit dem Thema stehen. Anschlieend soll eine Darstellung der bedeutsamsten Gesetze bezglich der Rassentrennung in Sdafrika eine Grundlage schaffen, um die weiteren Entwicklungen im District Six und deren rechtliche Legitimation zu verstehen.
