Selbst im Jahre 1995, mehr als 370 Jahre nach der Urauffhrung des Urdramas Don JuanEl Burlador de Sevilla y Convidado de Piedra', hat die Gestalt des grten Liebhabers aller Zeiten' fr den Regisseur und Drehbuchautor Jeremy Leven genug Potential dargestellt, um einen weltweit erfolgreichen HollywoodFilm mit Starbesetzungen wie Johnny Depp und Marlon Brando zu produzieren. Was aber macht die Gestalt des Don Juan ber Jahrhunderte hinweg so attraktiv? Was beinhaltet der Stoff, der ihn zu einem resistenten Mythos in epischen, dramatischen, lyrischen und musikalischen Adaptionen macht, obwohl seine Herkunft lngst in Vergessenheit geraten ist? Impliziert bereits das Ursprungsdrama bestimmte intermediale Anstze, welche die umfangreichen medialen Adaptionen initiiert haben? Und wie verarbeitet der Film Levens diese dem Stoff immanente Intermedialitt? In der folgenden Arbeit werde ich sowohl das Primrwerk Tirso de Molinas als auch die filmische Adaption Jeremy Levens im Hinblick auf ihre intermedialen Aspekte analysieren und das umfassende Phnomen der Transmedialitt und Mythologisierung dieses Themenkomplexes erklren.
