El problema central es el de la intolerancia, articulado dramticamente por la confrontacin entre una visin provinciana, tradicionalista y primitiva, y otra europeizada, liberal, centrada en la metrpoli. 'Doa Perfecta' es una obra de lucha: Galds concibi su quehacer literario como intervencin en la realidad. Plenamente vigente en lo literario, su llamada a la tolerancia sigue siendo desgraciadamente de actualidad.
