2nd Edition. From Introduction: This Atlas of Marine Fishes is designed mainly as a pictorial aid for the identification of marine fishes. The thousands of photographs are all that will be needed for most aquarists to identify species that they are keeping within their tanks or that they have seen in their local marine fish store. They will also be able to find for the most part fishes that they are likely to collect along their own shores, including those that occur only in the cooler waters of temperate coasts. Further , many fishes are included that are too big for hobbyists but will be seen in the everpopular public aquariums where large reef tanks or oceanariums house larger fishes, including sharks. Whenever possible, different aspects of a single species are shown.

I bought this for my son who’s getting into marine fish keeping. The pictures are beautiful, and he loves flipping through it to learn about different fish. A great starting point for any beginner, just wish it had a few more advanced tips.

Not What I Expected
I was a bit disappointed with this atlas. The images are nice, but some pages were stuck together when I got it. It’s okay for general information, but not super detailed like I hoped.

A Must-Have for Marine Enthusiasts
Dr. Burgess's Atlas of Marine Aquarium Fishes is fantastic! The illustrations are vivid and the descriptions are really informative. I've been using it to identify new fish for my tank, and it’s made a huge difference. Definitely a staple for anyone serious about marine aquariums.

Useful but Needs More Depth
This book has great visuals and is a fun read. However, I wished it went deeper into care specifics for each fish type. It's a good starting point but won't be your only guide. Still, a nice addition to my collection.

Great Resource, Some Minor Flaws
This atlas is great for identifying different fish species. I love the variety included! However, I found some of the information a bit lacking in detail. Still, it's a solid reference book that's helped me a lot in my aquarium journey.
