Product Description In Dreams Where Have You Gone? Clues for Unity and Hope, author William G. McAtee tells the story of the Union Presbytery Movement through interviews, records of oral accounts, and firsthand experience. McAtee shows how the Union Presbytery Movement came into being in 1969 and illustrates the events leading up to this. He explores the dynamics of its relationship with both the Presbyterian Church in the United States ("the Southern Presbyterian Church") and the United Presbyterian Church in the United States of America ("the Northern Presbyterian Church") until the reunion of these bodies in 1983 and the formation of the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. (PCUSA). In this personal and inductive recounting of history, McAtee provides insights to guide the denomination today as it moves into the future. About the Author The Rev. Dr. William G. McAtee is a fourthgeneration Mississippian and Minister of the Word and Sacrament of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), now honorably retired. In the late 1950s and 1960s he served two pastorates in Mississippi and later as staff on the national Board of Christian Education (PCUS). Beginning in 1971, McAtee served Transylvania Presbytery, an original Union Presbytery in Kentucky, for twentysix years as associate executive and then as executive presbyter. McAtte hold a bachelor of arts degree from Southwestern at Memphis, bachelor of divinity and master of theology degrees from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and a doctor of ministry degree from McCormick Seminary. He has been involved in a wide range of elected and appointed positions throughout the church, including serving as chair of the Committee of Assembly Operations (PCUS) during the time that it was responsible for planning the reuniting General Assemblies in 1983. McAtee has taught as adjunct faculty at Louisville, McCormick, and Lexington Theological Seminaries. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He has led numerous educational seminars and workshops on a variety of subjects for both lay people and clergy. From 1997 through 2002, McAtee served as an international volunteer in mission, leading experiential study seminars to Cuba for the PC(USA). Bill married Millicent Bunn (Millye) in 1956. They have two sons, Neal and Walt. Neal, his wife Amy, and their children Abby, Maggie, and Will live in Memphis, Tennessee. Walt lives in Lexington, Kentucky. Millye and Bill have lived in Lexington since 1971 and are active in Second Presbyterian Church, Lexington.
